Currently there is no public high school in Linden Woods, Whyte Ridge, or Linden Ridge.  High school aged students must be bussed or arrange their own transportation to one of the four other high schools in Pembina Trails School Division.  These high schools are already operating at or beyond capacity.  French immersion students must travel to Oak Park Collegiate which is near the west perimeter. The other high school students from these areas must travel to Shaftesbury High School, Vincent Massey Collegiate, and Fort Richmond Collegiate. As Waverley West develops, the need for a high school in our communities intensifies.

Another question exists: why does such a sizable area with such a high tax base not have a public high school?  The growing population and continued expansion in southwest Winnipeg are a testament to this need.

For the future of our children’s education, for their safety, and for maintaining a strong sense of community, a High School needs to be developed in southwest Winnipeg.

The New High School Lobby Group invites you to view our website, and to join us in the lobbying to see a new high school become a reality.
