As the residents of the Linden Woods, Linden Ridge, and Whyte Ridge are aware, the growth of these areas has provided challenges for our schools and for the Pembina Trails School Division. These communities continue to grow. With the impending development of Waverley West, we need to consider long-term alternatives for a high school in this area. The public high schools that our children feed into are at capacity. Many grades of our elementary schools are also at capacity.
The following steps have been implemented to date, by the New High School Lobby Group to promote the need for a High School for our communities:
February, 2005 - creation of High School petition with support of MLA John Loewen.
March, 2005 - authorization of petition in the Manitoba Legislature.
April-June, 2005 – petition signatures collected through community schools and read in the Manitoba Legislature Spring session.
September-October, 2005 – further readings of the petition in the fall sitting of the Manitoba Legislature.
